H O T B U Y S R E V I S I T E D | July 2009

This month another step back to the 2009 HB's - which I really remember as being not that long ago, can't believe 11 years! Looking now, we wouldn't be too impressed if this was the July 2020 HB's but back them I remember thinking they were so cool - everyone had the Record Necklace (from Bizou if anyone is wanting to search the Bazaar!), and the animal print vibes to the Tiger Bodysuit (RIO) and Jumpsuit (Fudge) were also a hit. At some point I think I had most of the accessories and also the 80s Dress (Bizou) but now I'm down to one piece - the Plastic Purse which for whatever reason I just can't let go of! I really never style this, so now is the opportunity for it to shine:
I'll start by saying what a struggle this was - I sat down to style these looks at least 3 different times before actually coming up with some looks, and I think they really aren't perfect for this bag. They need a little work, this bag needs a lot of thought for styling, so I do see why it's not styled much and why I haven't worn it very much in the last 11 years. First up I tried with some purple, I don't have anything that's a perfect match to the colour of the bag, these pastel trousers aren't too bad I don't think. I didn't want to go overboard with more purple, so I used the black trimming on the bag to add black to the look - I like the use of the sheeny shoes, I think they look great against the bag with the more matte-style clothing pieces in the look^ Second up I decided to try and make this jacket work, I think the sequin detailing on the pockets and cuffs looks great and I think it does work nicely with the bag. I kept black trousers to really have focus on the details, but added some purple in the top and shoes - I don't think it's quite right yet for the bag, but it's not too bad!

I'd love to see some of you guys give this bag a go and let me know how your stylings get on =D

Round 2 | W E A R D E M J E W E L S C H A L L E N G E # 14

Next up for post number 14 of the Wear Dem Jewels Challenge, this week styling the Anna Sui Blue Kobal Earrings which came out in the 2018 summer tributes - I've had these two years and never worn them! I do think it's due to being in the beauty parlor rather than in the suite though. And I've had a hair change, back to blonde for the Summer months which I love, and I think blonde is very complementary for these blue earrings, I'm loving the pairing =) Just had to choose matching blue eyeshadow for this one, I had a perfect bold blue to pair and I love it! I kept a white base on the shadow which I think helps strengthen the blue colour. Thus of course the outfits had to also be blue and I think these earrings actually work out pretty great =D First up I was really excited to use these trousers, I knew they would be a great colour fit before even trying them, and I'm glad it worked out. I love wearing these for their fit and colour, so I'm glad to use them. I kept the earrings standing out with the use of a white shirt and balanced that with the shoes. Then added more blue in the bag, this one works well with the colours and the white text on the strap is great against the white shirt. I think this is a super cute look^ And secondly more blue! This dress has a great fit in terms of colour, but I was so worried about what else I would wear with it - it's not the easiest piece to style, but I'm so glad I stuck with it because I love the outcome =) I simply added in the accessories department - the earrings have some silver in them also so I focused there for the colour and I think it's worked nicely, the shoes have thin straps so don't overwhelm and the clutch is a nice small size. I found this freebie necklace in my wardrobe, and it actually suits the look pretty well with the style and colour combination, so I'm glad I hadn't already deleted it! I'm overall really pleased with these looks, I'll need to remember to consider these earrings again in the future^

June I T G I R L S | Styled By You / / Styled By Me

And now summarising our June IT GIRLS:Recoloured releases - and actually I think the last 4 weeks of them have been pretty decent! There's been some direction away from the neon and into more wearable colours which works pretty well for me at least^ For me the accessories have been such winners of these releases, they've really picked some great pieces to include, and I guess some of you guys think so too as they're also included in the features. First up is dm2udm2u wearing the Musubi Mini Tote Cream which looks great in this neutral look, so my thing! The bag looks great with these printed trousers, such a great pairing^ And of course I love the use of these nude heels too, a perfect choice. The white shirt adds a smart vibe with the silver jewellery and belt add such a different, almost western-style touch - I love the combination =)
And then we have minaj131 styling the Strap Brown Bra and the Manolo Blahnik Inspired Pumps Gold in this stunning styling! I love the layering of the top and the dress in this styling, the top really adds much needed shaping and detail to the piece and works so well with those huge sleeves! The golden accessories are perfect for the colours, I love the mix of the jewellery, bag and of course the shoes - they are so right in this look, exactly how they should be worn =D
I bought so much from the June It Girls releases, it was a bit ridiculous actually, and it's mostly multiple colours of one piece, haha! It would be super boring for you to see me style all 4 colours of multiple bags, so I've kept it down to 3 stylings for this post. First up the Fendi Inspired Purses Silver Orange - these came in some really nice neutral options too, but the orange really stood out to me as a fun accessory, so I styled it up with more orange! I kept the rest of the clothing neutral, and the focus is for sure all on the bag. I added a little orange in the shoes and I think this is a really nice minimal orange option (if there is such a thing!) and works well to balance the colour. Next both the Manolo Blahnik Inspired Pumps Black and the Musubi Mini Tote Black styled in a dressy look, a combination of smart and going out with the fun leopard print in silver. I love using this top to highlight silver in accessories and I think it's the perfect balance for the shoes. The rest of the look is neutral in black, but I think it works well to still highlight the pieces. I think the bag could definitely be in a look to highlight it even more, but it works perfectly well here with the shoes^ And finally, my favourite look of the trio, styling the JW Inspired Bag Puce which at first I thought would be perfect with some burgundy trousers and then I stumbled across this skirt in my wardrobe and it's a match made in heaven! I tried a lot of options for tops and other accessories, but as soon as I thought about highlighting the lighter colour in the check, I was too far gone with pink! I think the pink looks so great =D It's definitely a different choice, and I know not everyone will like it, but the colour combination of the dark with the pink is just dreamy^ This belt was a good colour fit as an accessory and finished off with some golden earrings with a similar design to the gold hardware on the bag. I think this will make a great Autumn outfit - if only I could wear it permanently from now through them =)

I T G I R L S | Styled By You / / Styled By Me

Now time to look at the 5th It Girls:Recoloured release that we got in May week - another set of recoloured pieces, but this time we have a lot of choice for each item and there's a bit of a better mix of bright neons and calmer neutrals, which I really appreciate. In addition to the two floors, there were a couple more items on the third floor of It Girls with this release. For me I lean more to the neutral pieces of clothing, but the accessories are what really stood out to me and I bought quite a few of! But first, the features - you guys also really liked this release it seems. First up we have LadyMK2000 wearing the Plush Sky Jacket Green, which although is really not my style, looks awesome here! The greens work together very nicely, the different tones are complementary to each other and I like the mix with a fun print and texture added to more neutral pieces like the trousers. I really like the accessories in this one^
Also in green is anaritamiranda styling the Balenciaga Inspired Ruffle Top Forest Green which looks great against these white trousers, the tuck of the sweater is total perfection with the belting design here! This is more more style of wearing green, it really makes green a workable colour. The accessories are stylish and fitting, the shoes look great and the bag adds some fun colour =)
Next up is LadyStez who is choosing the Balenciaga Inspired Ruffle Top White and also the Dior Heels White for the styling. The sweater is looking super smart with this split leg skirt, the neutral tones to the snake print really work well with that. The shoes are a good addition, and the design around the calf is still on show with the split of the skirt. The rest of the accessories are also super cute with the look, definitely some of my favourites!
And finally also in white, but the Can I Reach Now White sweater is the_chuba, also including the Angharadbbz Gucci Inspired Mules in the look. The look is casual with the use of the jeans, and I like that the raw hem of the sweater is really highlighted with the dark denim. The shoes add a cute dark touch while the pink in the bag gives some femininity - super cute^
I bought quite a few pieces to style up, and while I didn't buy any clothes on my first visit, I'm sure I will purchase some at some point in time. First up the McQueen Inspired Body Jewelry which was originally in silver and I always thought, 'if this was gold I'd wear it more', and my thoughts have been answered with this piece! These trousers are great with a black polo and this piece, the print works so well with the design on the necklace. I kept black and gold in the accessories, but light with this tan overcoat, it's a cute style for Winter for sure =) Next up the Angharadbbz Gucci Inspired Mules, I love the originals of these, so I'm quite happy to have them in another colour and the silver hardware detail gives good options for looks with silver highlights too which is the direction I took. The neutral black clothing let the shoes and the silver additions stand out - I'm particularly loving my addition of these earrings^ And lastly the Dior Heels Red which are super fun! I love the patent style to these, they really shine and stand out, even with more red in the look with this skirt - I'm totally gonna repeat this styling for sure^ The black keeps the look neutral so the focus is all about the red, I love it and think it will be great for Autumnal stylings =)

June V I N Y L | Styled By Me / / Styled By You

Wow, so it's the end of June already - and we're 12 weeks into VINYL releases as Plaza windows. I kept up with posting weekly for these releases until week 7 and then it just got very uninspiring for me - however 5 weeks later I think I've purchased enough pieces to style up for a post! And I also found some features for the releases too, there are definitely pieces which have been more popular than others in the last 5 weeks =)
First up with the features, two looks with the I See Turtleneck and this one is coming from MeLolitka - I love the all-white vibes to the styling, it's so fresh and crisp and I think these shorts are adorable plus perfect for summer styling. The white really brings out the sheen and shimmer in the top, it's super highlighted in the look^ And the accessories are fab, I love the pearls and the iridescent sheen on the shoes =D
Secondly, also wearing the I See Turtleneck is ajenkam, this time infusing colour and the top still looks awesome - it's a very versatile piece for sure! I think it looks great layered with a thicker jacket, and the jacket doesn't cover it up too much either, you can still see that sheen^ The striped trousers look super cool and stand out in the styling, and the red works surprisingly well with the teal tone, love it =)
Thirdly we have millaxx who is wearing the Animal Print Pants which I was quite unsure about at first, however this look may have totally converted me in their favour! The pale colours make these a perfect summer trouser and the blue tones are highlighted with this blazer included in the styling. I love the white accessories keeping it light and super trendy with the style of all the pieces^
Next we have Miss.Privacy who styles the Orange Waist Belt, showing even the accessories can stand out on their own^ I was put off but the chunky style of the belt, but I think layered up under this blazer is a perfect way to combat this. I love the clothing colours for the belt, they're complementary but totally let the orange stand out, especially the white. Also loving that earring, a perfect accessory combination =D
And lastly we have GirlEwelina wearing the Folder Handbag which does well to stand out against a mostly dark styling. I was a little confused with the style of this bag, then I saw the RL version and got it, haha! I think it looks great here, especially paired with the cool layering of pieces on the top half, the printed body looks awesome with the belting design on top and I think it's an excellent style to pair the bag with. Also loving the pink hair, it's such a fun addition!
And now for my own stylings! I'm accumulated quite a few pieces from the past 5 weeks and styled them up into four looks today. First up the Baby Handbag and Baby Blue Heels in such a sweet and light Summer outfit, I love it! I love white with baby blue tones and this outfit came together so quickly, love the slight crop to the trousers so the shoe details could still be shown off, and the blue cardi is a sweet and feminine addition with the over the shoulder style. I'd totally wear an outfit like this in RL^ And then we have the Pattern Denim Pants with the Black Wood Boots in this very un-Summer styling, it will be perfect come Autumn^ The design of these trousers just really caught my eye as something totally different, and among some not-so-great Plaza releases, they really stood out as something special. The fit is pretty nice on the doll, I did a little size adjusting so the length was better for me, and they work well like that, and the dye colour is super pretty - I focused on that for my paired pieces, and this top and bag combination is spot on for that! I will say it was tricky to pick something else, or anything else that wasn't black to work with these trousers. The boots are pretty nice too, and with this length of the trouser the square toe and heel design of these really gets some spotlight too =D
For the third look I'm wearing the Seventeen Sunglasses and the White Flarred Skirt, again in a Summery and beige style, typical me for sure =) It's a little basic, but I think it works out - I tried so many different shirt combinations with this skirt and found it hard to get something I really liked a lot, so I think there's some more playing around with this piece to do. I like highlighting the frill-style to the waist of the skirt, and I think this belt bag is a good way to do that. The sunglasses are super versatile, they'll work pretty well in a wide range of looks! And lastly styling the I See Turtleneck which I was so unsure about at first, but I took a chance and love the outcome! For me the layering with a top underneath is a perfect way to style this piece, I tried a few options but just adore this pink one^ The rest of the outfit came together very naturally and the balance between whites and pinks is good to allow the shimmer of the shirt to really take focus in the styling. I love this as a little something different for me, and I already have another idea for styling this shirt!

Round 2 | W E A R D E M J E W E L S C H A L L E N G E # 13

Next up in the Wear Dem Jewels Challenge are the Art Deco Earrings from Epiphany which were released as an MSW collection way back in 2015. I styled them up in 2 looks back then with a focus on purple based stylings through my makeup and looks - but this time looking at them I immediately see blue in them, which is what I chose for my stylings. I have quite a range of blue eyeshadows to work with, I focussed on the paler tones with a darker shade close to the eye. I think it really pops! With the looks I didn't mean to put together two super similar ones, but it just happened, I love both this dress and the blazer with the earrings^ The first styling is super simple, the dress has a fair amount of detail to add with the earrings and the styles are complementary to each other. The accessories to finish off have a nice silver sheen which is perfect for the earrings. For the second look white is a perfect pairing to go with the blazer - this smart shirt with fun cuffs is a great idea to pair, and the trousers are a nice summer piece keeping the fabrics light. I added more fun in the accessories, these blue shoes are a bright touch, and I think they look good with the other blue tones, the bag is this sweet beaded piece, this texture is great in so many stylings =D The earrings are another pair that look great with this darker hairstyle too!

H O T B U Y S R E V I S I T E D | June 2019

And finishing up the week of Hotbuys Revisited with the June 2019 Hotbuys from last year - didn't love the dark vibes for the Summer months, but the pieces on their own really weren't as bad as I was expecting them to be. I focussed on the accessories and I bought them all apart from the Cat Sunglasses, these just aren't so much my thing while the shoes and bags have a lot more versatility about them. The one piece I've used the most are the Strap Heels in the green, they have just been so great for outfits, and I think that was down to the colour as we don't really have anything else similar. Love them so much! So today focusing on the other pieces, I'm styling the Bamboo Tote and the Monochrome Shoes:
The looks are very much the opposite of each other, I didn't mean to make them totally void of colour! I definitely know why I've never worn this bag, it's all about the colour - it's not quite a tan, and there's not many accessories or pieces to match it perfectly. I think the sandals I chose are a good fit, but they're mostly hidden under these wide-leg trousers, haha. But I think the neutral style works well for a neutral bag like this, and I do think it manages to stand out in the styling. I have to say I really struggled with the shoes, nothing was looking right, so I settled - I think I will take a fresh look at these on another day with a new perspective. I styled them with these trousers the first time round and I picked them because I knew they looked good. This sleeveless polo gives for a sleek, almost retro vibe which I quite like, then I added some fun accessories - I did try silver but it was a little overwhelming for the shoes in the styling. I will try harder with these next time!

H O T B U Y S R E V I S I T E D | June 2015

Continuing a week of Hotbuys Revisited, stepping back 5 years to the Hotbuys of 2015 which at the time I didn't love all the vibes to, but now I think it's pretty cool! No I don't want every piece, but I'd love those star booties to play with, and I think the blue starry top and skirt set is pretty cute, that might also make some fun looks! The only piece I bought was the Hotbuys Star Purse from PnL which cost 11SD's - I have styled included it in stylings a couple of times, but it's always been an addition at the end of the styling, I don't think I've ever purposefully styled it:
So I don't think either of these looks work well to really show off the bag to it's best, but they do both work really nicely with the bag =) First up all white and pink, I do find it hard for other colours to work really great with this bag, so sticking to tried and tested for this one. The pink of the bag is quite dusty, so doesn't work well with all pinks, but I like it with both of these pieces, the croc-texture looks great with the suede-style of the boots I think. The white pieces add good balance, and I think there's a perfect ratio of the two in the look. All I'm missing is the perfect earrings! Nothing stood out to me as 'just right' so I didn't include any, but I'm on the hunt for some =D And then the second look, a little more daring with colour with this two-tone skirt, and actually I think I've paired these two pieces together before - I really like the balance of the pinks on either side of the yellow half of the skirt^ I did try out a couple of different pairs of shoes and tops, but in the end my neutral-love won and I wore a classic beige combination. It works though! I did also add some earrings, I think these are super cute with the styling, I really love this look =)

H O T B U Y S R E V I S I T E D | June 2009

Taking a huge step back in time to the June 2009 Hotbuys this week - I really remember these quite clearly, definitely not 11 years ago though! I loved the pink and purple vibes to the collection but also the dark florals in that skirt - always really wanted it, then got it and could never work it into a styling, isn't that typical?!?! I did also have the little bikini-top necklace but sold it some time ago. The one piece I have always clung onto though is the Hot Buys Bag from RIO, a very creative name I know, but way back then this only cost me 6SD's - which doesn't get you far these days! So two stylings with this fun piece:
I adore the colour of this bag, it's super stand out and bold - but the shape is a tricky one and the reason I really haven't worked with this bag before. I tried to embrace it this time, but I still wish it had a better position sitting on the doll! For the first look I went minimal in all pink, but the pastel tone really lets the bag stand out, I think it's a pretty cute pairing^ I actually had quite a few options for pink shoes, my aim was for something darker to pop out with the bag, and these striped ones were a surprise hit! I love them a lot as it is, but they're super tricky to style, but the mix of shades of pink was perfect for this look =) In the second styling I went a little crazy for me - I wouldn't normally go for a bold print, let alone a bold print with a bold accessory, but the pink tone in some of the floral print was just a great fit with the bag, and I don't think it looks too bad! Some people will probably disagree, but this is a step of trying new things for me^ I stick simple with some white accessories too though, the shoes, sunglasses and earrings work very nicely with the dress and the white flowers on there. I'm pretty happy with these looks, I think this bag has so much potential and I definitely need to wear it more!

L I M I T E D E D I T I O N | Release Review

This weekend we got a little something special in a release of Limited Edition! It's been quite a few months since our last release (February - and quite a few pieces are still available in the Plaza if you want them!) so this has been long awaited. There was a top up offer of 50% more SD's, and luckily the spoilers came out on Thursday, so you could plan accordingly =)
Highlights This release is a mix of recolours and new pieces - I really won't mention the recolours much, the pieces really aren't so much my style, and while some of the colour combinations work nicely, I think others are a little questionable. I'd have also rathered more pieces recoloured, with just a couple of colour  options rather than a few pieces with lots of colours. The new pieces however are better, and there's a mix of clothing, accessories and styles.
Accessories The new accessories really drew me in to the release! There are a few pairs of new shoes in a mix of styles, I do quite like the style of the Max Flats, the colour is a perfect neutral for summer and the square toe is great, but I'm not such a wearer of flat shoes so I'm passing on these for the moment. Also quite loving the LE Round Heels, which are the blue ankle booties with the cool sphere on the heel - these have such a great metallic vibe! I'm also very much a fan of the bags, both the LE Small Shoulder Bag and the Max White Handbag are really my thing being super minimal on the design front. I did think they were quite expensive for what they are, which was really off-putting, for a style like this I'm expecting around the 40SD mark, while these were 60-70SD. The one benefit to being minimal is that they'll work well with a lot of different styles though, so definitely won't sit unused!
Clothing So the recolours are so not my thing, but the new pieces are closer to my preferred style - they just don't look like LE clothing, does anyone else think the same? The design is all fairly minimal, which I really like, but the execution isn't up to scratch for me. The Blacknwhite Flower Jumpsuit is pretty cute, I like the loose fit on the doll but the fabric is half-sheer which I don't like the look of on my doll - I'd take the floral print on another item for sure though! The Tulip Denim Jacket and Pants are a cute pairing, I like the bright denim colour and the ripped applique additions are unique, which do make them stand out. I don't like the fit of the pieces for my doll, but they've both sold old, so I look forward to seeing stylings on you guys^ And lastly to talk about the all-beige styling, which by nature I should love as I love beige clothing, but these pieces, the Max Dress and Jacket are just a step too far into simple. It's really the design and details that let them down for me. The Dress is a little too shapeless on the doll, and if you're paying almost 100SD's then it really needs to be a good dress. The Jacket is a little better, however it's a style I know I shy away from as I've had similar styles before and not gotten wear from them.
Prices This release ranged from 25 to 135SD's, and as always, this was SS/Royalty-limited. However starting on Friday when the collection was released, everyone was given a free week of SS, so technically, this is available to everyone! I think the recolours were fairly well priced, however the new pieces were priced as a typical LE collection but design-wise did not match up to typical collections.
Styled Outfits I just picked up one piece, the LE Small Shoulder Bag and I'm super happy with it! I really had to pair it with other blue tones, and I love how it's worked out - I'm sure I'll try and work it with some other colours next time, but blue and white are classic^ For the first look I picked out a blue pair of trousers, I tried quite a few pairs under the criteria of being darker than the bag and this royal blue pair worked out best. I kept a smart shirt as the trouser waistline really works well with that, but did play with light blue shoes - these aren't a perfect fit to the bag colour, I didn't have anything that was a perfect match, but I think the darker tone between the pieces balances them and it's not too noticeable. I love this for a smart look that doesn't involve black! For the second look something lighter with white trousers - this bag looks pretty good with any white clothing, so it's easy to find things that work^ I decided to go with a blue top, this one has such a great light shade, I love it with the bag so much, and the details on it really add to the look - the black around the neckline was a perfect opportunity to choose a black belt and I also went with black sandals and sunglasses, which I just think is a great pairing against the paler tones. I'm super pleased with this outfit, it's really one of my favourites of the moment =D
Features And for the features - these are mixed with new pieces and recolours, but the recolours have sold out much quicker than the new pieces. First up FunOpler styling the Blacknwhite Hat which is quite a fun and trendy piece, while it's not my style, I can imagine a lot of cool looks with this, like this one! The layering of the white skirt with awesome sleeves and the black furry top really works well to highlight the design of the hat, such a great pairing idea. The smart shorts keep a summer stylish vibe and I love the use of the fishnet socks, a fab balancing piece to work with the hat design^
MeLolitka styles up the Tulip Denim Pants in this cool blue and white based styling I really love the use of accessories in this styling, I think they're all great pairings with the jeans. The white piped details really pops out with the other pieces added, the belt, shoes and furry stole are perfect pieces here^ And I'm also loving this bag in the styling, the blue colour is perfect with the tone of the denim =D
Next up is the_chuba wearing the LE Balenciaga Inspired Sherling Jacket Black which is one of the recoloured pieces - this is definitely the most classic colour pairing for the piece, and it's perfect in this look^ The chunky black polo looks great under the jacket, the big collar is perfect to fill the wider neckline that the jacket brings. The boots are a perfect vibe with the pieces, while the light wash denim brightens the styling =)
And finally is yelich styling the Brown Handbag (which really looks black to me!) in this brown-focused look. I really love the pairing of these to brown/beige pieces, I love the combination of the chunky knit with the miniskirt, it's super cute and I think it's a style that works very nicely with the bag^ The lighter accessories in the look really help to make the dark colour of the bag really stand out in the styling!

V I N Y L | Styled By You / / Styled By Me

It's now week 7 of the VINYL window releases, and I do think this week is a step up from last week a bit, I certainly like these windows a lot more, even if I really dislike the swimwear pieces on offer! There are a mix of styles, but I would say these releases are just getting a bit too quirky, I'm after a little more on trend and stylish pieces in the whole release and not just one or two items. This release was also more popular with you guys, I managed to pick up a couple of features - first up millaxx styling the Marilyn Earrings, the Secret Sunnies and the Heel LUX which I think all work quite nicely together. I really liked the use of this floral and lace and tulle top, it really caught my eye first with the bold shoulder design and then drew me to the new accessory pieces. It's fun to see the look combined with jeans, but it would also work well with a smart pair of trousers too. Also loving this bag included in the look!
And next up is starsuepretty wearing the Spring Ricky Handbag, it's not so much my style, but I love it in this look! The colours definitely make it a bold piece, but they work really well against all of the mint in the clothing, this top and these trousers go great together and I think the boldness in the belt and the new bag really work well to make the look stand out =)
And for my looks, I also just bought accessories this time, and I think they're pretty decent pieces. First up the Heel LUX which are a pretty decent sandal with a current trend of a square toe, I think these will work well in a wide range of stylings. I've gone with a midi skirt, and I think it works out nicely, I like the addition of the print and I've kept the rest of the look very classic for me - but these shoes are a classic and totally work with this. Next the Feather Handbag which I just think is amazing, I'm so glad to have this in my wardrobe. Love the colour, the size, the twist design to the handle and of course the feather trim on it, so different to what we already have! I thought I had the perfect peach accessories to match, but the shoes I had weren't quite right, so my original plan didn't work out, but I think the peach looks great standing out against the white. I think lighter tones are best for this one, but it will look super cute with Spring and Summer dresses too, can't wait for that! And lastly the Marilyn Earrings which are a classic pair of earrings really, and work perfectly against the dark hairstyle I'm currently wearing. I love adding more pearl-style pieces when I wear pearl jewellery, so these jeans get a fair amount of wear! But I think they look great here, I kept the rest of the look light in the accessories which really lets the pearls, and the beaded bag design really stand out - super casual and simple, I love it^

Round 2 | W E A R D E M J E W E L S C H A L L E N G E # 12

Sunday has come around again, time for part 12 of the Wear Dem Jewels Challenge, not gonna lie, I feel like I've been doing this for a lot longer than 12 pairs of earrings, haha! This week I've picked out the Epiphany Luxe Marble Earrings, which are a pretty nice pair and look great with this black hairstyle, they really pop out perfectly =) I've never worn these before, so this is a first time styling, and actually I really thought they had quite a pink tinge to them until I took the pictures for the post and realised they're really not too pink at all - but that's what I based my makeup look one. I used a browny/beige base for the eye to give some depth then I used a couple of pink shades around the eye which I think looks fairly natural. And just a little mascara to finish it off, I think it works out quite well and fits in without taking focus away from the earrings. For the first look I really like this blazer and miniskirt combination with the earrings, they're a little pink and I liked that when I thought the earrings were pink, but I think it still works. I kept the top and shoes super neutral as I didn't have the perfect pink items to work with the look but I think that's fine as the skirt has a lot of pattern going on. I did try and pick a bag, but I didn't quite have anything perfect that worked with all aspects, everything was either too pink or too gold. For the second look I had to choose this gold slinky dress, but mixed it up a little by wearing it as a skirt and I love it! I think these two compliment each other really well and are great with the earrings. I used the gold trim of the earrings for the accessories and I think it works out nicely for everything and adds a little shine to the silk^ Not my favourite set of looks for this challenge, but I still think successful ones for this pair of earrings =)

H O T B U Y S R E V I S I T E D | May 2019

And today looking back to Hotbuys of more recent times, May 2019! I actually really liked this collection, the pieces are just right up my street in terms of colour and style, and I still have all of the pieces that I bought last year. I've worn most of the pieces a couple of times over the year, particularly the Burberry Inspired Bag, I think that's definitely my favourite, and also the Triangular Sunglasses, which are a little trickier to style, but a fabulous piece =) So today I've decided to style the lesser styled pieces, the Ring Sandals and the Lambskin Skirt:
I have to say, while I like these looks, I don't love them as much as some of the Revisited looks in the past - these pieces were definitely super tricky to style! First up with the shoes, I struggled a little which I think was due to the ankle strap, I just find those difficult to work with! But I think these trousers aren't a bad choice, I do love the bag with the shoes though, the colours are great together, and I'm glad to get something together with this bag that looks alright^ I do like the use of the brown polo, it really breaks up the light colours and I think it's not too bad against the shoes at all. For the second look, another struggle, the skirt length is quite an awkward one, and the brown isn't quite like any other brown pieces I have so I couldn't get a colour-match in. So I went very classic me with all of the beige, which I do think works well for the skirt, it definitely holds the focus of the outfit, but I don't think it's the most creative way to work with this piece, I have dreams that one day I can find a perfect way to wear it in a fun outfit!

V I N Y L | Styled Outfits

Week 6 of the VINYL window releases - this week we had 3 female windows to choose from, and I think this is quite a low point in the releases. The pieces are just disappointing and overall, really not great - sorry if you don't like me saying this, but it's my opinion. The week also included a male floor, which wasn't any more exciting. I did pick up a couple of items to share looks with you though:
First up the Open Woven shirt which is a pretty standard piece, I like that the open neckline isn't too wide, but it's big enough that you could show off a necklace through it still. I also like the tighter fit compared with some of the looser ones, so I think it looks good with this slim-fit skirt, the silk styles look great together, I think they're very complementary items to each other. I kept the look a little street with the leather jacket and I loved using these strappy sandals^ And then we have the Bag Bag (I mean these names are really not doing the pieces any favours!) which is in a great green colour, we really have nothing in this shade already. I actually found a couple of pieces which I think will be perfect with this bag, so I look forward to wearing it again already, but this time I picked this slinky dress - the green paneling in the dress is a great colour match for the bag! The styles look great together, and really are the focal point, I struggled to add anything else without it looking too much, so I stuck with simple black strapped shoes again, but did add a little glamour in these earrings (which look great against the dark hairstyle) and I love the outcome. For all my dislike of this weeks releases, I do think these two pieces are gems amongst them!

Round 2 | W E A R D E M J E W E L S C H A L L E N G E # 11

Sunday again, and time for the 11th Wear Dem Jewels Challenge post - this time I've changed up my hair, the blonde was making some pairs of earrings get a little lost so I've gone totally opposite, choosing this new style, in black, from Claya., it's so cute! I love the length, this above the should style really works perfectly for me, and hopefully the dark colour will help to show the earrings -which this week are the Alexander Wang Wang Inspired Plastic Earrings. These came as a suite jewellery item, but then we also got the free beauty parlor pair too, which is what I've used today. With my makeup I knew I wanted to go for black and white colours, so I layered up from light to dark using white, grey and black shadows and I think it's made a pretty decent smokey eye, I'm a little impressed that I managed to create it^ For the looks I also wanted to go with a black and white palate and I did try to incorporate some plastic/perspex/PVC style pieces to pair with the earring style, but I didn't have too much to choose from, so my vision didn't work out as planned, but I still really like these stylings. First up a darker look, I thought it would be fun to use these sheeny culottes, they're kind of a strange piece, I'm really wondering why I bought them, but I love them here! I liked pairing them with a matching black boot. I kept the rest of the look more matte with a plain top and then went a little colourful with this pink coat, I tried out a lot of different colours and liked the pink best, and also love this bag with the styling, it's the perfect place for it^ In the second look I went with a white base and absolutely love the outcome =D I also got some plastic booties in too, I think they make a good balance against the black bag and top. The light fabric white trousers work really nicely to keep the look Spring/Summer, and of course paired with one of my favourite blazers - just a classic combination for sure!
