I N S P I R E D B Y S A I N T L A U R E N T | Tribute Review

Tribute number 5 and sadly it's the last of the season - this one is also bringing back classic tribute vibes, it's SAINT LAURENT! I was excited to see that that was the brand for this release as it was among the original lot of tributes to be released and pieces from the YSL/Saint Laurent stores have been some of the most lasting in my wardrobe, let's see if this collection fits with that:
For me, this release is actually a bit disappointing - it's a mix of collections without focus particularly from the absolute latest Saint Laurent releases, and there are some pieces which are almost identical to Saint Laurent items we've had in the past (I'm looking at the Kate Tassel Bag and the Zipper Tube Dress in particular which are close to items from the Winter 2015 Tribute release, a number of other pieces are also similar) - so this is ending the Tribute season on a bit of a low note. There are still some nice pieces here, so I will still discuss the collection, but this review will be on the briefer side of things. Accessories-wise first, I'm not particularly a fan of any of the shoes, nothing really stands out to me but I am quite intrigued to see a few different stylings of the Studded Long Boots as I do think they could look good in the right outfit. The bags were also a little 'meh' and to me they don't really fit well with the clothes selected, I would have liked ones that worked with the looks. I do like the Kate Tassel Bag, but I already have the almost-identical original one so I don't feel the need to get another one, but the colour is great on this one so I would recommend it. There are some very nice jewellery pieces in this release, and I'm glad there are some choices. The Glass Pendant Clip-On Earrings look like a fun piece, I love the vibrant colours and I think these will be great for bright Summer stylings. The Triangle Earrings also look amazing, these have such an intricate design and will look amazing with a striking make-up look to match^ There are also quite a few necklaces to choose from, the two that stood out to me were the The Flower Power Necklace which has a lovely modern and unique design, I haven't seen anything like this in the Plaza for a long time so it really stands out, and also the Heart Chain Necklace which is super pretty and we all know I have a thing for gold jewellery!
Onto the clothing, and to be honest, not a lot stood out. Two of the jackets/coats were absolute winners for me though, and those were the Striped Coat and the White Jacket - these look fantastic, wearable and versatile and I'm really excited to style them both. They're for sure contrasting in style, with the Striped Coat perhaps more Autumn/Winter directed and the White Jacket more for Spring/Summer looks but I think these are pieces that help save this release. I'm also a little tempted by the White Pants With Chain, these look like a crisp pair of trousers, I like the length and the rolled hem, but I'm just a little unsure about getting them to sit nicely on my doll when resized as I don't so much like the low slung waistline.

First in the features is Bianca.Vos styling the Yellow Flowy Dress. This is a piece that didn't really stand out to me in the store, but I think it looks great in this styling! It's got period drama vibes but this look adds to it bringing it into the current times. I think the blue additions to this piece are perfection, they're so complementary to the dress, I even thought the belt was part of the dress at first^ The pearl accessories are also fab, they're the perfect selection.
And then we have harpie wearing the White Jacket in this fabulous power-boss outfit, I love it! This is such a versatile piece in terms of style and the neutral white colour so you can really take it in any direction, these trousers with the smart white shirt are a great option^ I love the jewelled accessories added to this one, they really pop out and the colours are great, those earrings match the trousers exactly and the bag fits in nicely as well =)

Now for my own stylings! First up is the Striped Coat paired with the The Flower Power Necklace (which I was very kindly given by a friend^) - this coat is a winner from this collection, I think it's got a great mix of things I like in other coats I have, what makes it stand out are the stripes and I think those will make for an interesting addition to many stylings. I kept the trousers simple so the stripes would stand out, but also made it a special look with the addition of all the silver - the top and the necklace pair together so nicely, I'll definitely wear them together again. And I love these detailed silver earrings, just the perfect final touch for the look! Next is the White Jacket, another winning piece from this release. I was however at a bit of a loss how to style it, because I love it with these boots but didn't know what clothing to add to work with the pairing, so I opted for nothing and just accessories! I do think this bag is a great choice, the colour is a perfect fit with the boots and I think the style works well with the jacket too =) And the final piece I've styled is the Heart Chain Necklace which I was really excited to get to, and I really love this outfit! I stuck simple with the clothing but loved the little details that this sweater offers, the gold in it make it a perfect choice for the necklace, and of course for other accessories like this bag. The heart shape of the bag just worked out so nicely for this heart jewellery =D

Blue Steel

I was very inspired by Kirsten's Prada Tribute round up this month - on reflection I think it was my favourite release of the season. I particularly loved mery.-'s dress-trouser moment and thought I'd do a version myself.

Hopefully I've managed to achieve something fashion and not a sad recreation of Katie Holmes' red carpet moment a while back. As a 90s child, I like to think I've seen a lot of distasteful fashion, but that gave me a full body cringe.

What I've gone for instead, as per usual, is texture. You couldn't get further from the silky-smoothness of the dress by using these tassel trousers. I've been saving them for the right look and this was definitely it. The colours are a great match and suit my new cool-toned wig too, courtesy of saddream.

I've accessorised extremely lightly for me this time - keeping to steely tones in the bag and subtle earrings. I wanted the focal point to be this giant safety pin holding up the sculptural creases of the dress. It's a bit more casual somehow - a vibe I've tried to support with some chunky trainers rather than heels.
I think this might be one of my favourite looks in a while - I'm reluctant to take it off!
