J U N E 2019 | Hotbuys Review

For a Summer month, these June Hotbuys are pretty dark when looking at the advertising. However the styles and designs are current and popular - from what I've seen people are pretty happy with these pieces, which is always good, as often there is complaining and not looking at the positives^ Upon first seeing these I was most excited about the accessories, so lets see if they live up to my expectations =D

F I R S T I M P R E S S I O N S
Cat Sunglasses - So while I do have a thing for sunglasses, I'm not quite sure it covers screen-green tones yet! These are certainly quite a bold pair of sunglasses for styling. I really like the shape, it's one that works well on all doll face shapes, and I like the black framing design, that's super cool - it's just the green! I think they will work for some people and I'm excited to see those people styling them! Original Future 18SD's
Strap Heels - These are an awesome pair of shoes! I love a mule style and these fit the bill perfectly. The block heel is great, along with the height and the square toe is super trendy right now. The strapping across the foot is flattering, and the colour, it's to die for - really something I was missing in my shoe collection. I just can't get enough of these =D RIO 17SD's
Eloise Corset - At first I was really thinking this piece looked ok, but wasn't for me, however over the month it's really grown on me! The colour is pretty neutral and while the design is a corset, it's well made over a nicely fitting tee, that's a style that works for me. The fit is great on the doll and I think it will work nicely in a lot of styles - it's definitely not a piece to layer though, it's one to stand out! RIO 22SD's
Bamboo Tote - I absolutely adore this bag, such a great piece! It's in a style which is very popular and trendy right now, so I'm delighted to have something like this for my doll. It's a perfect summer bag in a light colour and a small size. I like the beaded design, and it seems a lot of you do too as I've seen an uncountable number of people styling this one - it's clearly a winner and I think it's a great versatile piece =) It Girls 21SD's
Blaze Pants - So these will never be a piece for me - a combination of many things about them, and they seem to get mixed views from what I've seen, some people don't like the way they've been designed, but others are loving them, so a marmite type piece! For me it's the colour and also the overall wide fit of them, with the low slung waist and all the pockets, they're quite 90's to me. So I'll pass on these but I do enjoy seeing you guys style them up because they've been looking quite cool! Bizou 24SD's
Leaf & Olive Earrings - So this earring set was a little unclear in the advertising, I though we were just getting the golden leaves, but actually it's a separate set with one leaf and one 'olive' - this sort of different pairing isn't for me, but I do like the delicate design of the golden leaf, so for me, two of those work better than the pairing they were intended for^ These have seemed super popular, everyone is coming up with some creative ways to wear them which really makes me excited for styling them up! Velvet Orchid 11SD's, 9SD's
Monochrome Shoes - Another great pair of shoes - these look like they could be a classic! I love the different design features to them, the intricate design on the pointed toe, the golden stiletto heel and the neat strap wrapped around the ankle, they really look a classy shoe. The colours are very neutral in black and white so will be easy enough and versatile enough to wear. For me, definitely one of the top pieces this month =D It Girls 20SD's
PVC Leather Tote - And another bag that I love, this is such a great piece to round up the accessories this month, they've been so strong! This is in another popular style, with a perspex outer and the 'bag' on the inside, I love the look with the black animal texture and the matte round handles, it really looks sleek. I've not seen anyone wear this yet, but I have so many plans for it myself, so hopefully some of you guys jump on board with it too^ Bizou 21SD's
Fran Top - I was never very enthusiastic about this top, or even this set, they're really just not my style, and trying on the piece really confirmed that. It's a cropped piece and while I like the little polo neck and the short sleeves, the cutout can be a tricky one to style around. The black with silver stripe design is also one that wouldn't be the easiest for me to style. Fallen Angel 25SD's
Heather Skirt - As with the top, I knew this skirt wasn't for me. The fabric is matching to the top, good if the style is for you, but it has a very short length which is something that won't work for everyone, including me. I don't really see anything too special about this piece, so it's quite an expense for a piece and being a HB - but hopefully someone out there likes it! Fallen Angel 24SD's

F E A T U R E S
First up in the features, millaxx wearing the Strap Heels which look stunning with these mint trousers! This is a great summer look, the trousers have a loose fit and the waistline goes well with the tucking style of the shirt. I love all the accessories paired with the shoes, especially the bag, it looks fab^
Secondly INANAAAA styling the Blaze Pants - see how cool they can look! This styling really stood out to me, it's so stylish for a pair of trousers that have been a little on the fence, I just love them with this blazer tucked in, the pairing is really great =D The accessories are a great touch, love the 'chain; on the belt and this bag is such a fitting piece^
And our final feature, Pinki60er wearing the Fran Top and looking fabulous - I'm quite glad someone likes this piece and has styled it well! The layering with the lace long sleeved piece is amazing, the combination allows both pieces to be highlighted and they work together pretty nicely. The black trousers are a solid pairing for the tops, and I love all the accessories - very rock chick!

S T Y L I N G S
Now time for the Guest Writer stylings - see I told you the Leaf & Olive Earrings were popular^ I love this set of looks, everyone really has taken different ideas with the pieces. Miloshki styles up the Strap Heels in a minty styling, I love these floral trousers, perfect for the season, and I'm also loving the accessories, particularly those earrings - a fab touch! AudreyHepburn. has gone with just the Leaf Earring on it's own and super creatively styling it on the necklace - so cute! The deep V of the dress is perfection for that as the design is highlighted so well in the styling =) Cinderela23barb wears the Leaf & Olive Earrings together, and they look great - I wasn't convinced with them on my own doll, but here they're fabulous^ They look great with this hairstyle behind the ears as they pop and I love the neutral tones against the gold, a classic and lasting combination! And finally vogue_veronica, also wearing the Leaf Earring but paired very cooly with the Bamboo Tote - what a great idea! The pieces look fab together, and also with the neutral tones, I love the mix of floral prints, I think that really works well to grab the attention - as does the sheeny highlighting in the makeup look, completely stunning!
And now for my stylings! First up the Monochrome Shoes, a real gem in this months HB's, I love them so much and found them so easy to style. The cropped length lets the neat wrapping be highlighted and I love the shine of the shoes against the black of the clothing. A little silver in the accessories is a perfect balance - I'm adoring this minimal styling! Second up the PVC Leather Tote, also styled very neutrally but this time against a white base with black accents, I think it's super effective^ I love this layered with the handheld blazer and the sheeny heels. I can see this will be a great Autumn/Winter bag too. And finally the Strap Heels, which of course I paired with my go-to mint blouse which I wear with any slightly similar toned accessories, haha! But I love this for a more casual styling, the bag colouring works well with the look and I love the pop of contrast with this belt, I think it works out nicely for the styling as a whole =D

Summer Blues

So cold and rainy in Finland at the moment... Where's summer? Can't go out without a proper coat, one like my doll is wearing today. I put together this blue look because I found this cute mini dress from my closet. I made it midi by adding a skirt to it and topped everything with the huge coat!

Tropical breeze

What a beautiful tropical summer styling today from CoolRachael making great use of some of our new Antidote pieces! I love a pop of yellow and I think this piece used as a frill on the skirting looks amazing, the blue sheen is such a great colour combination and the white balances the pieces well and provides great shape to the overall loo. The blazer and the hat are perfect additions in colour, and again balance nicely. Plus I'm loving the white frames, those look super cool!

Scorchio

Europe is having a heatwave at the moment - sitting in my room, it is currently 32 degrees centigrade. That might be normal for many of you, but for my weak British temperament and our inability to build anything with air conditioning, this is the seventh level of hell. I am soggy, but for all the wrong reasons.

I am even too hot to put my laptop on my actual lap, so please accept this slightly hasty, warm weather look.

I always go a bit kimono mad in the summer. I'm not one for showing off a lot of skin, and a kimono style cover up is just light enough with some swish. Paired with these loose fitting slouchy summer trousers, this look is perfect for lounging around outside and drifting off to sleep in a sun lounger as I fully intend to do this afternoon.

Gucci glam

Such a cute mix of casual and glam stylings today from MissDark1990! I love all the layering of the clothing, it works well, and reminds me about this skirt which should be styled more! The white frilling at the top looks great and I love all of the sleeve details added under the tee - such a fun way to wear this piece^ The trainers are super casual but look great, and I love the rest of the accessories, especially the Gucci bag with the added jewels, it looks beautiful =)

H I G H F A S H I O N H I D E & S E E K | Styled By You / / Styled By Me

Wow, we're now half way through this fun year of High Fashion Hide & Seek! There are a couple of days left to find the trophy for June, and this months prize are the Walking Heels. These seem a little more Autumn-Winter to me, but they're going down well as I've seen so many people styling them up already. First up of those stylings is scarpin, going for a dressed up denim look. The base of black in the clothing with this tight vest is great to balance the dark of the boots and I think the blue denim really works nicely between these items - I love the layering of the lined piece on top, it adds such a cool design feature that stands out. The accessories are also great, love these jewelled earrings in particular^
And second up we have Jesica_1998 styling them more dressed up. This skirt is really amazing for the boots and with the sheer fabric still lets the boots have the full show. The patterning on the skirting is great too and adds a detail that catches your eye between the solid black of the boots and of the blazer - this blazer really looks great layered with a skirt, I'll really keep that in mind for my next time with this piece. And of course, accessories are classic and great =)
I'm also making use of a lot of black in my styling - it really was unintentional to make a Summery post like this^ I gone with this printed dress as it's such an interesting design, I think the style contrasts that of the boots well, and the white printing works well with the text on the boots. The white blazer lightens the style, although I don't think it's so necessary. I loved adding this cute little bag with the floral clasp, it's very fitting with this dress^

1 Piece 1 Week | Structured Pants Pink

So I don't normally choose a super recent piece for these posts, but this time around for 1 Piece 1 Week I decided to style up one of my favourite new releases, the Structured Pants Pink from Antidote to see if my speed-buying could pay off^ I don't always get along with pink trousers, sometimes it's a love-hate relationship, but I couldn't help myself in adding these to the shopping cart!
Be a smart babe in a blazer
Blazers can be controversial for summer styles, but I think these two work out well to give contrasting styles to the trousers. All out pink for a feminine touch with Dior accessories, or go something quirky with navy, a bold choice but one that can be super effective in making you stand out!
Be all beach-ready with camisoles
These trouser are perfect with a slightly cropped top, and camisoles fit the bill perfectly - these light tones are great for the bright weather. Accessories stay light too with nude, beige and white tones which help highlight the pink. These looks can go super fun with sandals, I love strapped styles for this season =)
Style up for the city with smart blouses
To contrast beach-ready, be city-ready with some cute blouse choices. Florals seem to be my top choices, and you can go bold or streamline with colours or a matching pink - I especially like the details that these blouses add. Shoes are super snazzy, sheeny or with intricate details, and accessories are fun to play with to match these styles^

Slimming Black

This week's look is inspired by Bottega Veneta's Resort 2020 lookbook, which was one of
my favorite shows/collections from the latest resort season, the collection was filled with
simple, elegant and functional designs combined with neutral and muted tones.

I love a good blazer, you can either dress it up or dress it down, with accessories or just letting
it shine by itslef.

And of course these pants, which are probably one of my most worn pieces from my closet, it
goes amazing with everything, the shape is incredible and makes the legs look so long.

Heart of Glass

I'm having a throwback! For a while, I couldn't do a look without using this gift-o-meter skirt or without using a tattoo as a little detail, so today I'm doing both.

This heart tattoo is a new favourite and it works perfectly as a little stitched detail for a shirt. Human anatomy might be a little gross, but I've always found it fascinating, especially in conjunction with flowers. They have a lot in common, and you see them crop up together all the time in fashion.
I've paired this combo with leather and a utility belt - while my doll may wear her heart on her sleeve (or indeed chest...) she's anything but vulnerable...

M J I N S P I R E D S T A R B L O U S E

I think I spotted someone styling this Marc Jacobs MJ Inspired Star Blouse a little while back and wrote down that I needed to style it as I really haven't thought about this piece since purchasing it back in 2017! I really don't see anyone wearing it often, but it's a pretty cute piece and fun to wear, but I'm not sure how much wear I will get from it in the future so it may pop up in my Bazaar soon.
These stylings were fun to put together, but a little tough at times with the different tones in the shirt. First up some grey trousers, I really like the neutral-ness of these with the shirt, but I added some super fun accessories with the belt and the bag, they're definitely bold choices to wear with a print but I think they work out very nicely. Shoes were a challenge with this look as I really didn't want something that would draw any attention away from the shirt plus accessories combination, so these white super high sandals are a nice touch. Secondly, because of the hint of blue in the shirt, I used my favourite navy trousers and I really love the look of this pairing! I stuck with blue accessories for the glasses and bag and went silver on the shoes and I think this works out a nice balance between the two tones in the look - the shirt stands out particularly well in this one and I think it's all down to the big colour contrast^ And finally choosing a skirt, white looks great with this shirt so there were many options to choose from so I went for something ready for Summer. Accessories were minimal choices, but I like the tiny touches of silver in the shoes and gold in the bag to work with the colours on the shirt - it's definitely a nice look this one =D

Real in red

Today wearing a selection of the pieces I love to see styled but rarely do - a look from sarah_1980 all in the red tones! I need to wear these trousers more, they are fantastic, and they look awesome with this fun pink bag - also loving the pale pink shoes, those are fabulous with the striped trousers. I love the slight colour clash with the red bubble coat, it really looks awesome^ The white shirt cuffs are a nice touch. And I love the matching beauty look, the eye shadow is stunning!

A N T I D O T E | Release Review

Friday brought us our new release of Antidote - it was very much anticipated as Stardoll kinda told us it would come out at a certain time and it didn't appear until 5 hours later! However I do think it was worth the wait, for me, it's one of the best Antidote collections there has been and it sure seems others think so too as many pieces sold out super quick!
Highlights The store has 2 floors filled with 11 looks for the girls and 2 for the guys, with an eye catching mix of colours and designs. The store is a similar size to our last release, and slightly larger than some others in the past few years. Overall, I'm hugely impressed with this release, it's got some perfect styles to find my taste and I really think they've thought well about what to include this time around =)
Accessories The release has a good mix of accessory pieces to choose from. Shoe-wise there are both trainers and sandals and they're all super versatile pieces - all really great for this Summer season. The Balenciaga Inspired Sneakers Women sold out in minutes. It's a popular style, and in just white, they're really an easy shoe to style in many ways. For me it's all about the sandals though, it was love at first sight with the Sphere Heel Mules, which have delicate white strapping across the foot then the coolest heel design of orange and lilac perspex spheres on the heels, it's so quirky, cute and current, they look amazing! And also the Strappy Leather Sandals, which are the black alternative. These have more a more detailed design, and also feature a wooden sphere on a navy heel -  that's what I love about these the most, that's such a cool colour design combination^
The release has 3 bags, they're all pretty current in style and design. I go on about orange all the time, so I was immediately adding the Jacquemus Inspired Bag to my shopping cart - what a stunning piece! I like the small size, hand held style and the cute little detail added in the strap. Then there is the Jacquemus Inspired Mini Rafia which is the dream Summer bag for many I'm sure! I love a straw bag and this one calls all the shots with the fringed detail. I also love that this is pretty dinky, the small size really does make it easier to wear. And there are a few extras to choose from too, like the Biege Cap and the cool mismatched pair of Jacquemus Inspired Earrings - those are definitely fun and seem very popular so far!
Clothing So much clothing! There does seem to be a divide between minimal styles and 'other' or the slightly more out there pieces, like the Moss Dress in a bright pink and mini length, and the Iridescent Coat which has such funky colours and is in a nicely wearable open style. The minimal pieces are much more 'me' and generally are much more versatile to style. Starting with dresses, there are a few to choose from. The White Button Up Shirt and the Shirt Dress fall into the same category, both are white toned, while the first is more a box fit with short sleeves and the second has some very cool tailoring. I really fell for the Orange Organza Dress, it's a stunning mix of colours in a beautiful fit, sadly the colours don't work well worn on my doll, but I can still dream and lust over it^ There are quite a few jackets in the collection and naturally I'm attracted to the white pieces - the Structured Jacket White which has an overall square shape but is then fitted slim at the waist, then the White Suit Jacket which has a looser fit on the body. Some will say these are almost identical, but I love the different features each of them has. Contrasting, there is also the Structured Jeans Jacket in black washed denim, it's super oversized in the body and sleeves and has a long length, so could look great as a dress on it's own too.
There are a few tops to mention, firstly the Structured T Shirt which sold out super fast! This is a simple white tee but with a cropped design and classic large t-shirt sleeves which go to around the elbow - I kind of regret not getting this as I had the chance, but it didn't look so good on the app as it does on the doll! The shirt I did pick up however was the Structured Pink Shirt and I really love it =D It's an oversized piece which is very long, but I love that it's only done up half way at the top, a V hem instead of a V neck as such - it's really quite attractive and I'm excited to play with this one in stylings. And I was kind of saving the best until last ... the trousers! I bought all of the Structured White Pants, Structured Pants Beige and Structured Pants Pink because I really would have been having major regrets only buying one or two. These have such a beautiful fit on the doll, they're high waisted with a slight crop on the length, and I love the straight leg design rather than being skinny or fitted snugly, plus there's a pretty pleating down the front too, I mean just such a stunning trouser design and the fact that there's multiple colours in a bonus for me. These really will be such easy to style pieces and I'm so stoked about them =)
Prices This release ranges from 18 to 105SD's, but really there are only a few pieces near the top end. As it is Antidote, it is SS-limited, and it is also limited in the number of items of each piece - while I can't speak for all the pieces, the pieces I bought seem to be limited to 500 or 600 each.
Features We plan to do a separate styling post, so now moving onto the features! The first one is from leiona_- wearing both the Structured Jeans Jacket and the Jacquemus Inspired Mini Rafia which look fab together. I love the cream silk trousers, they make a great contrast for the style of the dark denim, but are also very nicely themed with the bag. I love the earrings as the accessory for this look, really stand out!
Marta32222 is going pretty glam with the Structured T Shirt, I love this twist to a casual piece. The skirting is cool with the print and I think the chain jewellery ties the pieces together pretty well. I really love this as inspiration for combining two completely different styles and really looking awesome with it!
This next look is from Mayly1968, also using the Structured T Shirt but pairing it with the Structured White Pants for a perfect pair! This is my sort of look, especially with the very cool blue-hued sunglasses added, it really is for me^ The heels look great and I think the pieces really speak for themselves.
Then we have ohmonica styling the Structured Pink Shirt and the Jacquemus Inspired Bag together - a completely awesome colour combination^ The white skirt makes a good balance for them, and the floral sock boots are pretty good, they're perfect with the bag while the pinks still work out together. Also loving the slicked back hairstyling =)
The penultimate feature, Pinki60er wearing the Dress Blazer Onepiece in a very cool layered look. The look really stood out with the use of neon, that base really highlights the dress design. I also love the shirt layered too, it adds a lighter touch and breaks up the colour of the dress and the socks, plus it helps highlight the design of the socks which is pretty fun too^
And the final feature, turkiye wearing many pieces - the Biege CapWhite Suit Jacket, White Belt Bag, and the Balenciaga Inspired Sneakers Women! The pieces go well together, and the hat is such a great accessory to pair with these tan Gucci trousers, I really love that balance with the white. The other accessories are perfect too, I love all of the different bag pieces used and the golden DKNY jewellery is a fab finishing touch =)

Brown and Navy

Brown and navy is such a good colour combination. It reminds me of summer - the sea and sandy beaches! This skirt is so beautiful and it works really nicely with a turtleneck top. I think it's the fact that the skirt shows a lot of skin, so covered up top part fits it well!

Be blazer

Just had to feature this weekend styling from jjgangstevenjj with this very cool blazer! I love this jacket, first up it's navy which is just great to wear, and it has such a unique shape - I also love that not many people style it, so that makes this look stand out even more. The colour is perfect with these trousers and the pinstripes really add to the look. I go on about silver a lot, so these accessories are completely my thing, love the belt combination in particular^ Of course I also talk about orange too, so this bag is a great little addition!

Iridescent-imental

As always I rushed to buy the thigns I wanted from Antidote and somehow ended up with this coat? Don't actually recall deciding that I actually wanted to buy it, but hey, you should never look a gift horse in the mouth.

This coat actually has some interesting colours to play with, and a texture that I've used time and time again, so it's not actually a world away from my usual style. You can play up the lilac, the pale green, the warm yellow, the pale blue... it's all there. And when you layer it on other colours, you get a whole new set of tones - magic!

I've kept the dress underneath simple so that the coat does the majority of the talking, picking up some yellow elements and adding the fringe skirt to make the dress more midi than mini. A find a midi length is much more versatile if you want to wear a sportier shoe, whereas a mini skirt can end up making your legs look like golf clubs.

I'm also pleased to be able to use this Limited Edition satchel that I've been hoarding for about ten years. The shade of green is a bit....off (decidedly not neon despite the label), but it works so well with this coat and my trusty multicoloured glass earrings.

Not sure what occasion this look is designed for, but wherever my doll goes, she'll be followed by the sound of plastic creaking and fringe swishing.

Ingredients | You Will Need
Iridescent Coat | Antidote
Mustard Colourblock Dress | Windows on the World
Fringe Skirt | Antidote
Triple Drop Earrings | MSW
Neon Green Carry All | Limited Edition
Balenciaga Inspired TripleS Sneakers | Subcouture

Dark Summer

I think what really drew me to love this look from --kayley was the use of the May HB Triangular Sunglasses because they look awesome in this styling! I've really not seen people make use of these and this outfit is a perfect choice for them. The green trousers (a new HB this month) are layered well with this overcoat, it is quite a dark combination, so it won't be for everyone this season, but it's a pairing that works. I like the striped crop top, it pops well and sits nicely with everything else. Adoring all of the accessories really, from these solid black boots to the cool LE bag front and centre back to the sunglasses - a great job =D

J E A N S | Save Or Sell

Following on from denim jackets last month, this time denim jeans - over my time on Stardoll I've been wearing jeans less and less, I very rarely wear it now unless it's quite a special pair, like the Pearl Beaded Loose Fit Denim jeans from Subcouture - those have a stand out quality that many pairs of jeans just don't for me. Despite all this I have over 40 pairs of 'Jeans' (as classified by the Wardrobe system) in my dolls possession ... baffling! Today I'm styling up 6 pairs, and really could come up with at least a few more 'parts' to the jeans series, but I'll save that for another time!

H O T B U Y S B O O T C U T D E N I M
While I did find a few pieces that work with this pair of jeans, I found the mid-rise style to be a little limiting - for me a high waist is the easiest to style. I like the dark wash of them, but the flared style can be a tricky one. It works well for pointed shoes, and these two pairs really stand out against the jeans which I like. Even though I like these looks, this pair are a S E L L for me as I think someone else will get more enjoyment from them than I do.

M E T A L L I C H A Y D E N J E A N S & S H R E D D E D L O W J E A N S
These two pairs are more 'special' jeans, the first have a silver sheen across them, while the second is covered in a ripped design. I found the metallic pair ok to style, they work well with other silver pieces and I really went all out there^ They look great with this silver top, and I like the dark overcoat to allow some balance. I didn't like styling the ripped pair - I wanted to really make a go of it, but I couldn't get into them. I think I can settle that this style isn't one for me. Both of these are a S E L L really, I can't imagine wearing them again.

H O T B U Y S H I G H W A I S T S L I M M O M J E A N S
& T W O T O N E K I C K F L A R E J E A N S
This pairing are the mid-wash tones - pretty classic for jeans but one that I don't particularly love. These both have interesting hem designs, the first pair are cropped which I don't mind, but I think I find the frilling and the bow detail a little tricky to work with, they're not neutral or classic which sometimes jeans need to be. While this look works for them, I certainly don't love it. The second pair have a two-toned design which I think is pretty cool and I've seen a few dolls style these really well, I think I just don't like them on my doll. Overall I do like this look and it works out nicely, but it's not one I feel like I want to repeat - so both of these pairs are going into the S E L L category.

W I D E L E G S J E A N S
Ok so these ones, I'm kind of willing to give them a chance! I think that's all down to how cute this look is with the new Fever accessories, they really work well with the colour and shape of the jeans. This pair are high-waisted too, so definitely a style I find easier to work with. The denim wash is perfect for Summer, so maybe I will feel different about them come Winter, but they're really looking nice with light white tones. I've been quite casual overall but I want to try these out in a more dressy look as I think they will look great with some pointed heels - so these are a S A V E for the moment, at least one positive in this post^
