A P R E S S K I | Styled By You / / Styled By Me

We got a new release of Apres Ski this weekend to keep us warm during this cold weather! As with most releases of this store, it's a bit of a mixed bag, but there are a few cute pieces that are worth checking out. Millaxx styles up the Striped Get Relaxed Dress in a very stylish way. The boots and gloves are perfect for winter, but I love the cool addition of the tulle necktie, it's very snazzy^ I also love the use of the Prada-esque bag, it looks great with the dress colours. I'm also loving the gold earrings used, I'm definitely loving a mixed metals look much more this season =)
I bought a couple of sweaters from the store, first up the Because I Ski That's Why sweater, mostly because it's an SC piece so worth giving a go. The yellow colour is great and super stand out, I don't normally go for a V-neck, but decided to give it a go as it could make some fun layering which is what I've gone with in this look. I tried out a skirt, while I think it looks ok, it's not quite perfect, but it has the colour scheme I was aiming for, I really love that^ And I'm really liking these accessories with the sweater, the colours are very complementary of each other. And secondly the Fringe Turtle Neck which I just love! The colour and the style are just great, I'm excited to add this detailed chunky knit to my collection. I love this colour of blue with white, so I went that direction and I thought it would be super fun to wear this knitwear with a skirt, I really love the outcome =) Also loving the slouchy boots in the look and the accessories to finish of the styling, really one of my current favourite winter stylings!

A P R E S S K I | Styled By You / / Styled By Me

This week started out with a brand new release of Apres Ski, our winter-based Plaza store. It's not one that appeals to me as a whole, so not something that I can give a review of, however there are always a couple of good pieces I can add to my wardrobe so I'm bringing you a styled post of this release =) First up though, a feature - Marta-43 is wearing the Black Knitted Dress and I thought it was a really cool pairing with this star blouse making use of the cold shoulders of the dress, it's like the two were made for each other. The jeans are also a pretty different but cool choice for the look, plus the tied-waist jacket, I think they really help make the outfit stand out!
And then my styles - I bought 3 pieces from the release and I've styled each of them. First up on the left is the Mini Fur Trimmed Top, totally not my usual thing, but I was thinking it would look cute as a fur trimmed skirt, and so that's how I've worn it, I think it looks alright^^ The colouring goes really well with this sweater. And it wouldn't be a winter look without some boots, these PPQ thigh high ones are perfect to cover all of the leg and the white is a nice minimal contrast to the cream of the skirt and sweater. I stuck with white for the jacket and belt and overall I think it works and looks pretty good =) Then I bought both colours of the next piece, in the middle the Snow White Sweater, and I'm stealing some style-inspiration from our recent feature from gagapocker =) I love this light wash denim with the cream tone of the sweater, this scarf as an accessory is not my usual thing, but goes well with the style, colour theme, and store release =) I'm also liking these super shiny boots with the look, the tone looks great with the sweater. And then of course I bought the Peach Ski Bum Sweater, which was easy to style as I've been loving and perfecting the styling of pink sweaters since we got our last one in the Plaza! I couldn't resist going all out with the pink, I tried quite a few skirts on before settling on this knee-length option, and accessorising with even more pink. It's too much pink and I love it! I particularly love the clear showing off of the sleeves of the sweater in this look =)

A P R E S S K I | Styled Outfits

Our final release of 2016 was a brand new floor of Apres Ski, and while I really don't like the majority of the items I do think there are some good pieces in there, prompting this Styled Outfits post over a review - I've also not seen people wearing the pieces from the release, so maybe the opinion is quite the same? I purchased both the Metallic Polo Sweater and the Knitted Camel Sweater Dress, two pieces which I think are pretty minimal but also versatile in terms of style and design and colour =)
These looks were very easy to come up with and I think they're pretty simple winter-ish stylings which really use the pieces from Apres Ski to the best of their ability^ I just wish there were more pieces like these in the store over the printed apparel items!

P.S Also loving the use of the HB bomber jacket in my second look which I featured in my HB picks from 2016

A P R E S S K I | Release Review

Yesterday we got a brand new Apres Ski release, a little late in my opinion, I think this one should have been a December release, but nevermind! The homepage ad is perfectly wintery and the models exude warmth from the collection, they have a lot of the pieces on, so it is a pretty good advert =)
Just one floor this time, and I think I was a little disappointed - the spoilers looked pretty good I thought, and there's always some great pieces hidden away in this store, but once the items were in the plaza and I tried them on, I was a bit 'mmm' about it, which is a shame because some gems have come from Apres Ski!
There's a pretty good mix of clothing items available, mostly cosy knits with a few bottomhalves, not so sure about the leggings really, they're not something I'd wear, but knits are very much a yes! There's also a mix of more plain and patterned knits, not sure how I feel about patterns yet, as I wouldn't wear them how styled in the store, so I need to have a good think about pieces like the Graphic Sweater or the Turtle Neck Pattern Sweater. However they are both good fitted shapes, which makes them great pieces to wear under jackets and coat, which is a great bonus^ Speaking of outerwear, there's two pieces with this release, the Faux Fur Metallic Jacket and the Over Shoulder Jacket, the second of which I really like! Over shoulder styles are very popular, and I think will always be easy to pull off, so this piece is a pretty good one. I think it is maybe a little pricey for Apres Ski right now, so I think I'd probably only buy it on sale or offer though. In the bottomhalves category, I've already mentioned my lack of enthusiasm over the leggings, but I do quite like the Track Pants - which I don't think look all that much like track pants at all! They're a good classic colour (can't go wrong with black), and the shape is pretty decent as well as the leg length of them. I also like the Scalloped Skirt, the shape could have been a little more even over the hips, but the colour and design are both great and very on trend right now.
Now the accessories. The shoes weren't so much to my taste, I'm not sure how wearable the Snowy Weather Boots would be in a lot of different looks. There are two handbags on offer, and they're both pretty good. I really like the Wrapped Clutch - it's a unique style for the plaza right now and the colour is very pretty, I can see it matching with a lot of different outfits. There are also a couple of scarves and hats, but to be honest none of them really stood out to me and I very much glanced over them as a whole for this collection.
Prices range from 5 to 25SD's, with most items in the teen range. Some pieces seem a little expensive for what they are, but if you think you'll get the wear out of them for the price then it would be worth it!
For my Styled Outfits I decided to put together looks for the Track Pants and made them look pretty un-track-pant-like^
I loved putting these looks together and had a lot of fun doing it! Went mostly for winter styles, but enjoyed trying different styles of shoes - they go well with boots, heels and trainers, that's always great! I honestly don't think I could pick a favourite, but let me know your favourite in comments =D

Now I haven't seen all too many people wearing the collection, so it's just one feature! Loved this styling of the Scalloped Skirt by nicki_-_-minaj, some great lipstick matching going on in this look:

Apres Ski

So earlier this afternoon two new floors of 'Apres Ski' were released - in my opinion it's a bit late as we're almost at the end of winter, but never mind! Although I am happy with this addition as the store usually stocks quite cute pieces for winter, always handy for the next one!
Overall it's not bad, I don't like all the items, but I think there is good variety to choose from, so I'm sure everyone would find something they would like.
Prices range from 4 SD's for accessories to 17 SD's for a jacket (with SC prices in between these too!), which I don't think are too bad, but I personally don't like many of the items at the higher end of the scale.
1. Beige Leather Dress, 15 SD's
2. Big Silver Bracelett, 4 SD's
3. Silver Ballerina Skirt, 11 SD's
4. Snow White Silver Tid, 9 SD's
Sheepskin Collar, 4 SD's
Knitted Headband, 4 SD's
White Faux Fur Headband, 4 SD's
So I chose quite a variety of items, I love the accessories mainly! I was a little on the fence with the clothing, but I decided to take a risk with it - after all I totally drool over silver, I couldn't really do without it!
The faux fur headbands and collar are so cute, and I can't wait to style them, which I think will be pretty easy!
The leather dress I think will be the hardest to style due to it's shape, I think it's a bit wide, but I will do my best to make it look fab!
I adore the silver capped white boots, there really is nothing for me not to love with them with my addiction to white and silver, and I think I will be wearing them a lot, well until summer at least - they're definitely not shoes for the sun =)

Just wanted to show you a few things I bought when I went into town at the weekend:
{Don't view full size - for some reason it is massive!!!}
I got this Kate Moss fragrance for less than half price! I was amazed, and it smells so good, I have worn it every day since I bought it =) It also came with a body lotion which smells equally great =)
And I bought the winter collection 2012 essie nail polishes, I've been putting off buying any as it's £8 per bottle, but this little set of half size ones was only £9.99 - an absolute bargain, so I couldn't pass up the opporunity, currently applying beyond cozy and it is brilliant!

I'm not into posting things from my personal life, but every so often I might when I'm super enthusiastic about it =D

Capsule wardrobe - Accessories

Ok, so hopefully you all read the first Capsule Wardrobe post featuring clothing, and now here's the accessories one! As well as the usual bags, shoes etc. I'll also be putting in tights, I wouldn't really call these items either clothes or accessories, but as I think this post could be quite short, I'll add them in here =)

Tights
Tights are kind of a given, but they often get forgotten =) Two pairs are all you need for your doll, both black, but one thick and one thin. These will get you through any season and almost any outfit, and for me they are quite invaluable. The thick ones are from Fallen Angel and the thin from VOILE, each pair only costs 30 SC's so there is absolutely no reason for you not to have a pair!
Sunglasses
One pair is all you need! Yes, I have like 8 in my closet, but those are extras and pretty non essential! A great classic pair that suit your doll are the only pair you will ever really actually need. Black ones are the best classics to get you through, mine come from Chanel, but there are numerous pairs in the plaza for you to choose from =)
Belts
I am a huge belt person, I love them a lot, and sometimes they can be the only accessory in an outfit. Black and white are the two most essential colours and between them they can easily go with any outfit or clothing item. I prefer them skinny and sitting on the waist, but you might not, so be sure to browse around for ones which will suit the clothing and style that you wear. My black one is from LE, but there are many more in the plaza, and my white one is from the Apres Ski store(perfect for picking up winter pieces!). I also like having a third belt which is detailed and that little bit more special than a plain black or white one, so I have a gold leopard one for those occasions when a basic one simply wont do! Again with this third belt it's important to look around and find that special on for you!
Shoes
So shoes are so hard for me to whittle down to a minimum! The first absolutely absolute essential pair is black ankle boots - no question! These are like the food of my Stardoll wardrobe! This pair are StarDesign, and sadly the shoe design is no longer available, but you can find them in the bazaar. There are also pairs in the plaza, the nelly.com store has some good ones =) Next are a pair of white courts - these wont be for everyone, but white is one of my top colours and these, for me, are essential! They literally go with everything and anything =) Now you'll notice I've got a third, but blank, mannequin there and that is because I feel there should be a third pair (an amazing, beautiful pair of stiletto heels), but me being me I couldn't choose that pair, I have too many I like and that I want! And I know many of you will be the same about your shoes =D
Bags
With bags, 3 are all you need - black, white and nude. "What?" I hear you question as I only picture 2 above - well that's because I haven't actually got the ideal white bag as I'm yet to find one! It hasn't been a disaster yet, but I'm sure in the future with my recent white 'craving' it will be a major fashion problem for me!
So my black one is from Nelly.com and my nude one from YSL. You'll have noticed both are clutches, which is my personal preference in bags, I find them often easier to work with outfits rather than shoulder bags, but everyone will be different =)

So that's it with the Capsule Wardrobe posts - but don't worry, there are many more wardrobe posts planned, including Party Wardrobes, Holiday Wardrobes and Winter Wardrobes!
