2013 / / T R I B U T E S R E V I S I T E D

Our fourth summer of Tributes! There weren't quite so many releases this summer, just five, comprising of: Chanel; Giambattista Valli; Christian Louboutin; Frankie Morello; and Mark Fast. And I don't feel like they have been, overall, the best season of HBs. The latter two weren't great releases and have pretty much been forgotten about. The first three pull their weight though with some great pieces included!

Chanel of course to start with. I remember this collection as being quite memorable - the lego style bags for one, and the fact that there were lots of people complaining about this one when it came out. Right now however, I'm quite liking the pearl designs and details and the pretty dresses, so looking back I'm quite happy with this one! Looking at the collection it was inspired by however, there were some stunning designs which were left out which I think a lot of people would maybe have liked instead. These pieces are pretty easy to get ahold of in the Bazaar, I searched with a 40SD limit and found a whole range of the pieces there =)
And a feature, because others are still wearing this collection too, Funopler going with the Tahitian Pearl Dress, which is great because it's minimal yet I feel like I still know it's Chanel! The styling is great, the shirt additions are perfect for the piece and I love the use of silver detailing throughout on the toe caps, earrings and as studs on the bag - that bag is a great choice for this look =)

I wasn't hugely fussed about this collection back in 2013 - the pieces are quite dressy, so not so much my thing, and the colours were a little odd for me. Fast forward to today, I still think a little like that but there are some fabulous individual pieces in this collection which I loved styling, and one piece, the Amethyst Valli Heels, which I even featured in this months WEARING post, these were a great new discovery from this store and I think I might try out some more of the shoes because of it^ Now considering the original designs, you need a little (or sometimes a lot) of imagination to see where pieces are coming from, it's not exactly spot on I'd say!

Our very first Tribute store entirely dedicated to shoes and bags! And I really loved this one - and I still do! I still have an unbelievable amount of Christian Louboutin pieces in my wardrobe and I still love working with them =D I've even styled up several pairs of the shoes before not all too long ago and some of these are definite 'go-to' pieces in their own categories. This store had a super creative presentation and it definitely has stuck in my mind. There are so many great pieces in this store and hopefully this will show people how fab they were and that they are worth re-living 5 years later=)

Gold Strap Valli Heels / F I N A L L Y S O M E O N E W E A R S T H E M

Recently these Giambattista Valli shoes seems to have had a little rise in popularity and I keep seeing people wearing them! Today two looks - HEROtheSPICY and Mia1435 - which both style these shoes very well and make me consider taking them out of my sale room to try and wear! The looks show the versatility, being worn with a dress in a more formal setting, but also casually with slim trousers and that very nice Fever Khaki Jacket. I also love how both looks have stuck with that golden sort of colour, I'm wondering how I would style them with a different tone now - definitely some food for thought!

Wear My Closet Challenge #90

Both of these pieces kinda stumped me in the styling department when thinking about how to use them - so why not use them together, not sure if it's one of my better ideas, but I kinda like how it turned out!

Wear My Closet Challenge #29

Sorry, was enjoying wearing my Lupita dress for a while there, and didn't want to just post it as no further styling was necessary, just the dress itself was fab! Finally getting around to this skirt, still think I'm a bit unsure of it though - let me know what you think!

Wear My Closet Challenge #7 GET INVOLVED!

So the item I chose to focus on today was these skinnies:
Clothing:
Pleather Flower Skinnies, LE
Paris Tee, It Girls

Accessories:
Rose Buckle Belt, Giambattista Valli
Contrast Heel Boots, Elle

And now is your first opportunity to get involved with this challenge! I definitely took a long time deciding how to wear these, nothing I tried to match them with worked all that well, and this was pretty much the only thing I came up with - so I'm wanting input! My challenge to you is to style me in these skinnies! They're on my doll right now and will be for a few days, all my other clothes and accessories can be found in my closet, and if you use the pull out one at the side, everything in kinda ordered very roughly!
So style them on me, take a snapshot and send me a link in the comments (along with your Stardoll username, plus you must be a follower!), you have until 1pm on Sunday the 26th to submit your entries - if over 15 people enter, my favourite 3 will get a prize, if over 10 enter, my favourite 2 and if under 10, my favourite 1! Prize will be a gift from your 'wishlist' or an item from the suite shop =)

So what are you waiting for - get styling!

P.S. It was a follower themselves who asked for reader involvement, so here you go, I really hope people take this oppotunity, there's over 300 followers here and people very rarely comment, come on guys, lets work together to make the blog more active!

Wearing Valli #1

So this is the first dose of "Wearing Valli", and is based on the Couture Trousers of the collection! I myself chose to style the Rose ones first:
I went for black and white clothing and accessories to make the colour stand out as I love it! Going for PPQ black wedges and a white blouse, not really a fan of the blouse, but it was literally the only one which went well! And topped it off with the Rykiel belt, which I seem to wear with everything these days!

After styling my outfit I went out to find other Valli looks, and it became apparent that the Silver Couture Trousers were a favourite! {don't worry, there will be a #2 post with other items from the store!} So here are 3 looks with them:
I really love these 3 different stylings of the trousers, _StarHelen_ and B-S1997 have both gone for white tops, which is definitely something I'd go for, and then have chosen fairly simple other items to wear, this works perfectly for these trousers and is a fail-safe outfit! Diedunklemaid has instead gone for a colour infusion of pink/purple with the YSL crop top(I need this item!) and a little clutch, working with white courts to not go over the top, this look is fab and is a risky, but great outfit for the trousers!

I'll be doing a Wearing Valli #2 later on with stylings of other clothes from the store =D

Giambattista Valli Couture Tribute Review

Today the new Giambattista Valli Couture Tribute was released, and I think Stardoll definitely blew the socks off everyone with it! (especially after what people have been saying about Stardoll relating to the recent releases) On with my review =D

The store has 2 floors filled with a fabulous selection of couture pieces, mainly dresses, but also including skirts, tops and trousers, along with accessories of course!
The clothes are most definitely beautiful and they fill a gap in the market right now in the plaza as we really haven't got things like this currently for sale. I don't think the pieces will be for everyone as not everyone wears a dressed-up style regularly, but it's good to have a few one-off pieces in your closet to whip out every now and then! They will also come in very handy for the dress codes of this weekends TTT Fashion Weekend! As it's Couture rather than the regular Tributes we see, I very much expected the prices to be higher, which really reflects in the quality as well, as I definitely think a lot of time went into the making of these items. Prices range from 10SD's for a belt to 38SD's for a dress - with a range of prices in between these amounts, for example the shoe prices are all in the teens, which I think is pretty reasonable. Though I know a lot of people will not be pleased with the prices, I think they should have been expected, and personally I feel the higher priced items are worth that much, for example the Sequin Valli Gown (black one on 2nd floor) is 32SD's and I really think it's priced right - it's my favourite piece from the collection, so I'm really not bothered by the price I had to pay to own it =P
So far I've bought about 8 or so pieces and although it was an expensive purchase, I'm happy with the items I got:
These are the clothing pieces I bought from the collection, I also got a few pairs of shoes and a belt =) I am looking forward to styling the pieces later on, and I think I will try and do a post styling the different pieces from both this Tribute and the Chanel tribute, as although I've worn several of the pieces from that store, I haven't shown any of them here! I'll also post a Wearing Valli post later with some fab looks I've found featuring clothes from the store =D That should be later today or tomorrow.

So, opinions on the new store? Let me know in the comments below!

If only I were in Paris right now ... [PartThree]

Giambattista Valli
There is a beautiful selection of gowns here with an array of prints and ruffles - going for a very feminine style. The colours are mainly greens and reds, but I am in love with that pale pink gown on the bottom row above - so elegant! Something gives me a very Alexander McQueen feel, which I love!
Christian Dior
Dior impresses as usual with a mix of suit-styled outfits and beautiful dresses. I'm such a trouser fan at the moment, but you can't beat those gorgeous pastel ball gown styled dresses which were saved right 'til the end of the show! I love the contrast between the dresses and the dark suit-styled outfits, and I think it's a good mix for Couture to have. I definitely love the piece that Lindsey Wixson(she appears to have walked in like every show!!!) is wearing, I think it's got a bit of a Chanel/Louis Vuitton vibe to it - however I still love it as Dior!
