T R E S S U P | Release Review

Last week we got some brand new Tress Up in the Plaza! This was super exciting because Stardoll have been showing a lot of new hairs in their adverts etc. and I was hoping for quite a few of them. From the homepage ad for this store you can see a huge braided focus, but also something for the guys =)
We got two new floors entitled 'fashionista' and I think all the pieces fit that name pretty well! As I mentioned before, there is a heavy influence of the braid, but there are a good mix of other styles for you to go for too. I'm gonna start with those non-braided styles, where there are a range of long and short styles and also a lot of curls going on! From the long styles I love the Long Sleek Straight Hair, and of the more curled pieces, I'm giving the Shy But Fierce Hair a go! Some of the slightly bulkier styles don't work for my doll but I do think the Runway Fresh Hair is pretty awesome. Of the shorter styles, the Surfers Hair is the first I tried and I love how it looks on my doll - I've seen quite a few others working this style too^ I really adore the Fashionista Messy Hair, it looks great and in the adverts that it has appeared it, it seems a great style, but it just doesn't work for my doll at all, which makes me pretty sad =( So not all pieces will work for everyone, but I suppose I knew that going into the store! And then the braided styles, which also came in long and short and also up-dos. Both the Big Messy Side Braid and Big Loose Braids Hair look good, but again are pieces which don't suit me. A surprise was that the Stylish Sporty Braids Hair looked not bad in the plaza - I purchased it on a bit of a whim as I didn't think I looked good in this sort of style, but actually this one worked out really well! It's now one of my favourites. I also like the Cute Braids Hair, and I've seen some people wear it so well, but it doesn't suit my facial features at all. In the short styles, I don't suit the Braids And Bun Hair (which I kind of expected), but I really like how the Twists And Knots Hair looks, it's got quite a few different aspects that really keep it interesting.
What I'd love from this store is the ability to try on styles and move them around on the head in the Plaza so you can see how each piece looks in different positions, which can be hard to judge when you're stuck with it just in the one place.
The prices for this release range from 13 to 30SD's. It's unfortunately only the beards which are at 13, and all the hairstyles apart from one cost above 20SD's which I don't think is so ideal, I'd like to be able to try the hairstyles more and in different positions and in different dye colours that I have in my beauty parlor before I might have to part wth 30SD's for a style. So that's something which could be improved upon I think.

I've bought a few hairstyles and given them a try, to truly get a feel I'll need to wear each for a little while and see the colours and clothing styles which work best for each of them, but I'm surprisingly enjoying the Stylish Sporty Braids Hair on my doll right now =D (Also wearing Surfers Hair and Twists And Knots Hair)
And the features - my favourite part! There have been many dolls trying out these new styles this week, but these were the 4 I saw first and loved, they've each really chosen something that suits their doll to perfection^

Casual cool

A cool stylish look today from EugenieS^ Been seeing this Palermo Long Vest so much recently, and this look with it is great! I love it with a skirt, and the fact that it's a minimal piece is great too. The sweater is definitely a different choice for this look, but I think it works out ok - what I particularly like is the belt choice and pairing with the sweater and skirt, it really gives a centre to the look. Accessories totally on point too, wouldn't you agree? =D

I T G I R L S | Release Review

A whole weekend of reviews it seems! We got new It Girls last week, which excited me because there's always a few pieces to pick up in these releases. The advert is perfect for It Girls, and although I think it could show maybe more appealing items of clothing, I think it's still good =)
I love this release! There's quite a bit of pink tones, then it's spiced up with brights thrown into the mix, but I also think they're versatile pieces that can be styled well and will fit in with what you might already have.
Accessories wise, I think this was pretty successful! I'm not a fan of the Spring Suede Heels, however I fell hard for the rest and snapped up several pieces including the Valentino Inspired Handbag which I love so much! It's got a lovely spring colour and a fresh design - not that I needed anymore bags if you've been following my Bag It Up Challenge! For the clothing, there's a pretty good choice there to sift through - with tops, bottoms, dresses and outerwear. And everything does seem to be styled perfectly with the season in mind, I love that^ Some of the designs aren't all that great in my opinion, and actually quite a lot of the pieces don't suit my doll at all - it's a shame because I was hoping to be able to purchase those Casual High Waist Denims and some of the peachy pink items including the Nude Casual IT Pants and the Nude Long Top. On the other hand, there are pieces which work greatly for me, in shirts, the Olive IT Shirt and Knitted See Through Sweater both work out well on my doll, the Palermo Long Vest in the outerwear category and the Wide Flower IT Pants as well. I also love the Three Part Cape Dress - I think it's a super cool piece with great style, design and flair!
Prices for this release range 10 to 21SD's, which I think it pretty average for a release like this. Accessories are pretty well priced for what they are. Just one Royalty item in this release, and such a bonus as it's in coins - a little bittersweet though maybe?! Anyway, no complaints from me on the pricing front!
Super excited to show these Styled Outfits next, because I really love how I've portrayed the collection through these three looks! I got in everything I bought, going for a grey/white style (which is perfection) for the Palermo Long Vest, then brights for the Wide Flower IT Pants and then super neutral and earthy with greens and creams for the Valentino Inspired Handbag and the Envy My Shades:
Now onto the features, and three very different looks I think, mainly on three different colour schemes! Firstly EugenieS styling the Three Part Cape Dress in a spotted style with some matching trousers, who knew this would be a good idea, eh?!?! I love the Chanel bag and the red sunglasses, both perfect accessories^
And then jufashionista4, styling the Palermo Long Vest in a very stylish casual way. I love the top and the choker combination along with the bag and shoes, but who would think jeans would work well, they really look awesome in there! Hair and makeup is simple and works perfectly for a great overall vibe!
Lastly Mia1435 going for a colourful look using the Wide Flower IT Pants and playing on their purple accents with this stylish cut-out top and then a Dior bag. The red lip is a perfect compliment to the colour of the trousers - great styling overall =D

Reds

Another styling with one of last month's Hotbuys, this time the Fuzzy Vest and it's styled by EugenieS - who totally would have one our poll because this look rocks! I couldn't make black work with it, but it suits the vest so well here =) The polo and necklace combination are perfect with it, as is the choice of footwear in those DKNY booties. Red lip also working it out ;)

Fringes

Gotta love a fringe-styled feature! This look from EugenieS is great with this fringed skirt and I love seeing pieces like this being used. It goes surprisingly well with this military-themed Antidote blazer and also with this casual polo, which is pretty much the opposite end of the scale from the glittered and fringed piece. Accessories are chosen well, the boots and the clutch fit in nicely and don't detract the eye from the focus =D

Earth tones

This is such a great look from EugenieS! I love all of the earth tones chosen along with the base of grey for the look. The tan coat is a perfect winter piece and will always be a classic. It works very well with the It Girls Greige Velvet Boots, shoes I love wearing and have done a Styled Outfits post for, along with the MM Fashion Resort Cross Body bag. Again, these earth tones just work together well. I really love that lip colour too, it's a nice pink but a lot more neutral to fit the look^

Pink lips

Ending this week of features with on from EugenieS - it's another wonderful styling of this Callie's Picks Ice Pink Robe, this piece works so well with this skirt! The accessorising is fab, that yellow over the shoulder looks great - I've attempted adding yellow to looks but I'm not very good yet, this look is like #yellowgoals. And that beauty look is perfect, those lips ... I wanna look this good in that lipstick! Lets also not forget the eyemakeup, it's pretty hot too^

Lacey peplum

Double feature for todays post of DesignerJust and EugenieS both looking amazing in these Fashion Week ready outfits including the MSW Lace Peplum Top! It looks amazing in both of the looks using trousers which aren't the store-released matching pair (Shiny Lace Trousers) - the first with cropped loose trousers which has a slight navy tint to them, and the second with a classic fit high waisted pair. Plus both have accessorised well with necklaces, belts and bags - total bonus points for those gold heels too^

T H E J E T S E T | Release Review

I debated about this post for a few days - but decided to pop it up anyway to have a fairly decent record of store releases on the blog! This last week we got a new drop of The JetSet, the SS only store - I'm not SS at the moment however there are definitely items on my list! The homepage ad drew my eye immediately, I totally love the marble effect and I think those dolls are very pretty and I do feel like they sell the collection!
There were two floors on this release, however I'm just focusing on the clothing in this post (I'm thinking of doing some interior sort of series in the late autumn/winter, so I think I'll save the decor items for that).
It's good to see some menswear there, even if it is just one outfit. Some of the girls clothes aren't looking too spectacular for me, but there are definitely some clear winners there - especially that Oyster Pink Jumpsuit, that's one amazing piece! The Heavy Rock Jacket is also pretty cool, and I plan on getting it if I renew my membership. The accessories are also doing pretty well, I particularly like the Spiked Market Tote and the Camel Strappy Sandals.
Pricing ranges from 5 to 26SD's, with most items above 10. These prices aren't particularly different to what I would have assumed for the items, and I think it fits with the previous pricing in the releases.
If I end up buying anything I will do a little lookbook or something with the pieces, but for now, features!

M E L B O U R N E M I N I M A L I S M | Tribute Review

Today we were blessed with a fabulous new tribute store, which will hopefully be the start of a new Tribute season! I'm totally sold on the homepage advert which you can see above, it's right up my alley with all that white and a fab pink background - but onto the review =D
This tribute is so totally me! Like what more could I ask for, it's all white clothing! And a lot of the pieces have versatile ways to be worn, so really everyone will find something that fits for them. The clothes are much better than the shoes and accessories, which is an area I think which the store could have benefited with a little more work in. Although I do particularly love the Pure White Loafers - a pair of flat shoes I could see myself wearing for a few weeks straight, and we all know my opinion and love for heeled shoes!
With the clothing I tried everything on multiple times to see what did and didn't suit my doll, and there were things that just don't work out for me. And when I tried some things on, the pieces just didn't seem right, particularly the quality of some of the dresses and skirts - just not quite up to par with the rest of the store, and for the price I'd probably want a little more. I think more could have come from the trousers, the Pure White Trousers aren't too great when tried on (some dolls do work them well below) but on the other hand the Low Waisted Trousers are great, and not a bad price at 16/18SD's, I can't wait to style them!
Speaking of prices, the collection ranges from 11/12SD's for small accessories right up to 40/44SD for the more key clothing pieces of the collection. These are ok, seeing as most of the clothes are in the 20's range, but if you're on a budget you might need to buy wisely! I wasn't really thinking of prices, but when it came to what to buy, I bought 7 pieces for just under 130SD's which I don't think is all that bad. I look forward to showing some styled outfits later in the week =)
The features - always the best bit I think =D
And the colour POP looks:

P P Q S P A C E S A F A R I | Release Review

Missed me? I certainly have! I didn't mean to stop posting altogether, but I had an important deadline at the end of April so I was working towards that and then I just needed a little break from everything - but I'm back, and what better way than with a Release Review =D
The advert on the home page is very reminiscent of the last release I think with the photos of the collection. I quite like this particularly in that it shows us how to style the Runway Hair Glitter - something I looked at in the store and went ... huh? It doesn't work for my doll, but I'm glad to see it does for those in the advert^ And it's only 4SD's, think it could be a popular piece! Anyways, on with the review of the store =)
Anyone who has followed this blog for a long time will know I love white clothing, I'm been through phases of only wearing it and in March 2013 I even did a week long challenge to not wear white! But anyway, this collection is right up my street and I was very excited to start trying things on! So excluding the hair glitter, the accessories are pretty decent, the shoes stand out a lot to me, I love both the Faux Snakeskin Stilettos and the Embellished Pumps and I think the prices are very good too. In the early PPQ collections the shoes have been a bit too much and maybe a bit garish for me, so this is a great improvement!
There are definitely some gems amongst the clothing available (i.e the Sleeveless White Turtleneck) but I also see that not everything will be for everyone - despite my love of white clothing, I did only end up buying a couple of pieces as a lot of things wouldn't work with other clothes I wear or are similar to things I own - I'd love to be shown otherwise though, it'd be great to see someone styling any of these dresses in an amazing everyday chic look!
Prices for the collection ranged from 4 to 25SD's, which is good for a collection like this, with accessories at the lower end and the more stand-out pieces at the top end. I think everyone would easily find something to fit into their price bracket.
So I've done a couple of stylings of the items I bought, however I think these pieces are that versatile that there's hundreds of ways to wear them! <I also bought the Sleeveless White Turtleneck however haven't styled it in this post, maybe an opportunity for later!>
I loved these trousers with blue it would seem! But I think my favourite of the three is the last one - the top and vest combination just kinda worked when I put them together, I'm wearing it *here* right now so you can find out where each piece is from if you're interested in anything =D
And finally for the features, I saw so many great looks with this collection, and here's 6 of them!

LE Red

So I missed the latest LE release as I wasn't a SS member, but I honestly don't mind too much - there were a couple of things I would have bought but nothing that I desperately wanted, so that's good I think!
However today I've seen these two great looks featuring LE pieces - Minaj131 wearing that beautiful Valli inspired jacket (one of the pieces I would have bought) and EugenieS styling this modern pinstripe suit, and both have focussed on the stand out colour of red! The first look focuses on red clothing - this jacket is like made to go with the skirt - and the second uses a bag and a great lipstick to make the colour stand out! Love them both =D

Silver sparkles

Have to say I was actually pretty surprised with the newest MM Fashion collection, some of the pieces are great, especially this top (and the skirt it's paired with on the mannequin, it's to. die. for.) - which I bought immediately! I loved these two stylings of it from Prorsum and EugenieS - they both wear it in a great summery style, and I think it really does look great with the pale colours that both have chosen! I can't wait to style mine once I've finished exams - 13th of May! At least I've started now and had one, it went quite well, the questions that I wanted to come up came up and I was fine for time and was able to make my pre-planned toilet break, I'm one of those people that does that, I just can't sit in a 3 hour exam and not need to go!

Wearing MSW

So with this years MSW fairly underway (I'm really not paying much attention to it, so there wont be any posts on it, sorry!), a second set of clothing has been released in the store. This year I have to say, I'm not a fan, to me the clothes look kind of lacking in the graphics department, they seem to be almost tacky in some cases, and not what I remember from the stores in the past(in the first one(2010) there were some great classic pieces(not available in the Plaza unfortunately)). I have bought two or three things from the store, and that was only shoes, so not enough to style an outfit with, but I did so two dolls dressed fabulously in items from the store:
EugenieS wears the Faux Shearling Jacket, 24SD's with a midi skirt along with pastel coloured accessories(her lip colour matches perfectly!) while Mia1435 wears the Glitter Brushed Gown, 40SD's as a skirt, while pairing it with a black cropped tee and a floral embroidered leather jacket, the necklace was chosen greatly, easily tying the skirt colour with the jacket!
Love these looks so much =)

What do you guys think of the store this year?

Love K xxx

P.S. Yes I did order my Hunger Games:Catching Fire tickets yesterday - splurged and got VIP ones for my cinema at home on my birthday(which is just after the release), but also got a ticket bought for me for here from my friend(her present to me=P) for the 21st itself - we would go to the midnight showing, but we have a class 10am-1pm, which we don't think we'd make it up for, so we're just going afterwards! I am like beyond excited for the film, even ordering the tickets gave me so much nervous energy, I had to go for a run to work it off! Ridiculous! My dad has since claimed that I'm "not the full shilling"! Haha, probably correct =D
