Folk A R C H I V E | Styled Outfits

Following on the theme from Wednesday of 'better late than never' in the Folk Archive release last month I did actually pick up a couple of pieces to style - I really quite liked the vibes of both the Marie Curie Black and White Blouses, while the styles were typical for their time, they're really having a bit of a come back in current trends so I thought I would give them a go!
I found both of these blouses super easy to style, and they definitely don't keep their older style origins when styled with more modern and different pieces - which was something I'd definitely worried about. The details at the collar aren't as clear on the Black as the White Blouse, and with the cool puff-shoulder design I really felt I couldn't add any jackets or layers because these need to be shown off! For the first look I decided to add a polo layer beneath, which I think brings another element to the piece, then I kept the rest of the look in black to really give a sleek look, this totally makes the attention at the sleeves. I added a belt to cover the detail there on the piece (I don't like it so much), and used gold in the rest of the accessories for a classic style combination. In the second styling it's super light, and I think that helps with clarity in the details of the piece. I kept a similar smart vibe to the look with these trousers, I really like their colour paired with white, it's a fresh tone for the Autumn for sure^ I kept the rest of the accessories in white, and with this there are so many options to choose from. I added a necklace too, the dainty design of this piece looks good with the collar design, I think it's a super cute pairing =D

A R C H I V E : F O L K | Styled Outfits

Friday brought us a new release of Archive, this time with a focus on the old Folk store which was in the Plaza several years ago - overall the style of the store has never been fitting with my own style, but a few pieces here and there were pretty good. I remember loving a couple of these items when they first came out, but now they're really not my vibe. I did pick up a couple of pieces to style, and there's a few more I'm tempted by like the red and blue Bilbao Dotted Maxidress and the more muted Floral Cotton Dress - but so far I've just picked out the Iman Black Top and Satin Fringe Trousers to style up today:

The shirt has such a versatility to it, the black is perfect for so many colours and styles to work with it and I really like the slight crop to the length, making it ideal for high-waist bottom half pieces - I really had so much to choose from when styling! I love the classic look of the silk skirt with the top, I think these two pieces are really seamless together. I kept the rest of the look minimal so the focus was on the clothing - the neckline of the top is very wide and really does need some jewellery, I didn't quite have something perfect that still fitted the look, so I'll have to keep that in mind next time I'm styling this piece! And for the trousers, I found these easy to style, but I kept it super simple, there are for sure more creative directions to take with these fun trousers. For me the white worked best with the dark pink, but I added a few light pink tones in the top and the shoes (which are definitely one of my favourite pairs right now). I did resize and turn the trousers a little to wear them, this makes them more cropped in length and more high on the waist which is my preferred style for trousers, and I think it still works well for them^

Hotbuys Chinoise Blazer # W E S T Y L E I T

Time for another We Style It post, this time wearing the Hotbuys Chinoise Blazer from Folk. It's an older piece that's been around a lot, and I see in the Bazaar a lot, but you never see it worn a lot - I do get it out once in a while, but it's an awesome piece that really can hold its own in a look^ Pink is an obvious choice to pair with it which both myself and AudreyHepburn. have gone for in different aspects, comparing these trousers with the pastel Dior bag, both work well and definitely highlight the printing in the piece. With the base colour of the blazer being a paler grey, I think black looks great as a 'rest-of-outfit' base which we've both gone for in our stylings. I'd love to see this blazer paired with something super out there, maybe some really bright handbag to provide a contrast and colour pop from the screen =D

Brocade Ankle Length Pants # W E S T Y L E I T

Myself and Lauri (AudreyHepburn.) were doing a good ol' wardrobe dig yesterday and I spotted these and immediately said "You need to style these - NOW!" to him! They are the Brocade Ankle Length Pants from Folk and I think they're amazing, what do you guys think? So we both decided to give them a go to showcase our different style ideas for them. I really love that Fendi bag combination that Lauri has gone for, it's awfully like perfection I think^ And we've both picked the same furry jacket, I think it's a winner for this piece!

I really like this little idea of a We Style It segment, I think it's awesome to get our individual takes on a piece that isn't a Hotbuy once in a while - so what do you guys think of this first one?! =D

Spring Jacket Challenge - Day 1

So welcome to the first day of the Spring Jacket Challenge! Today I chose this jacket from Folk, with a typical floral style print and a light base colour. To me it's a great formal fitted blazer for this season.
I paired it with other light colours, my favourite white, but also a pale pink, almost nude cami underneath to give a little something else.
A bag? I don't think one is necessary because of the details on the jacket =)

63 Day Challenge: Day Three

Day Three Featured Item: Hot Buys Chinoise Blazer
I didn't realise how much I wanted/loved this blazer until buying it in the bazaar during the summer months, I wasn't sure if I'd like it, so it was a bit of a risky buy at 30 SD's, but it was worth every dollar! It's one of the easier pieces to style, and although it seems a more spring/summer piece, I am gonna try make it work autumn/winter!
This is a tad more summery than what I wanted to go for, but oh well! I love the trousers with the blazer, I love combining black and navy - no matter what the pro's say, I think it looks alright together! Here is just a small amount of black from the blazer and the shoes, but still =) I chose a pale pink top to go with the flowers on the blazer and to keep it a little upbeat - if I chose dark colours it would look awfully drab I'd fear!

Oh and also experimenting with different hairstyles, I like this one because it's versatile and you can easily add extra pieces to change the whole vibe of the look =)
